          1988 summer holidays.. Madras trip. కంచి, VGP, beach site seeing అయిపోయాక అక్కడిదాక వెళ్ళి, చిరంజీవి ని చూడకుండా రాము అని పిల్లలం గోల. అందులో ఒక బుజ్జి పిల్లకి చిరంజీవి అనే పేరు సరిగ్గా పలకడం కూడా రాదు; సిరంజి ఇంటికి వెళ్ళాలంది. అది కూడా తక్కిన పిల్లలతో స్వరం కలిపింది. అంత పెద్ద star, మా లాంటి సామాన్యులని కలుస్తారా? అసలు కుదిరేపనేనా అని పెద్దలు తల పట్టుకున్నారు. పాండి బజార్ లో రోడ్డు మీద సినిమా actor ల address ల book ని కొని అందులో ఫోన్ నంబర్ పట్టాం. హోటల్ నుంచి ఫోన్ చేశారు. ఊళ్ళో వున్నారో లేదో కనుక్కొడానికి. ఊళ్ళోనే వునట్టు ఫోన్ తీసినవారు చెప్పారు. Final గా ధైర్యం చేసి మేము చిరంజీవి గారిని మద్రాస్ లో వారి ఇంటికి వెళ్ళడం, కలవడం జరిగింది. 14 మంది family బెటాలిన్ మథ్యాహ్నం 3:30 కి వెళ్ళాం. watchman ని అడిగాం ఎప్పుడు వస్తారు అని. తర్వాత కాసేపు ఆగి మళ్ళీ ఎప్పుడు వస్తారు అని. పాపం విసుక్కోలేదు, కసరలేదు. కాసేపట్లో వస్తారు అని చెప్పారు.

ఈలోపు తోటమాలేమో.. మేడ మీద మొక్కలకి నీళ్ళు పోసాడు. ఇంతలోకి ఒక lady బయటికెళ్ళింది..ఓ కారు బయటికెళ్ళింది. పోన్లే వచ్చినందుకు కనీసం, వాళ్ళ కారునీ, తోటమాలినీ, watchmanనీ అయినా చుశాం అనుకున్నాం. మథ్య, మథ్యలో టీ, కాఫీలు తాగుతూ అలా రాత్రి 9 వరకు గడిపాం. 

          ఇంతలో ఓ కారు వచ్చింది. హడావిడిగా గేటు వైపుగా వెళ్ళం. చిరంజీవిగారు, విలన్ రంజీత్ తో కారు దిగారు. మాకు దూరం నుంచి చెయ్యి అలా గాల్లో ఊపి ఇంట్లోకి వెళ్తారేమో అనుకుంటుండగానే, 'చిరు'నవ్వుతో లోపలికి రమ్మన్నారు. మమ్మల్నో కాదో అన్నట్టు lawn దాకా వెళ్ళాం. మా వద్దకు వచ్చారు. ఆ timeలో కూడా సరాసరి ఇంట్లోకి వెళ్ళలేదు.. రోజంతా బయట గడిపాక సహజంగా ఇంటికొచ్చి ఎవరైనా ఇంట్లో హాయిగా కాలు చాపుకొని కూచోవాలని అనుకుంటారు. అలసిపొయి వచ్చి వుండొచ్చు, అయినా మాతో దాదాపు ఒక 15 నిమిషాలు గడిపి, మనిషి మనిషినీ కుశలం అడిగారు. వారి పిల్లలను బయటికి పిలిపించి మాకు పరిచయం చేశారు. మా తాత అననే అన్నారు..ఒక రోజు హోటల్ బిల్ మిగిల్చారు అనీ.. "ఎలా, నేనేం చేశాను", అని మెగాస్టార్ అడిగారు. రేపే మా తిరుగు ప్రయాణం, చిరంజీవి ని చూడకుండా పిల్లలు ఎవరూ రామంటున్నారు. ఈరోజు మీరు కనపడకపోతే రేపు మళ్ళీ మేము ఇక్కడికి రావాలి.అలా మీరు మాకు ఒక రోజు హోటల్ బిల్లు మిగిల్చారు అని తాత చెప్పారు.

        మీకు కూడా ఎవరైన ప్రముఖులతో లేదా మీకు బాగా నచ్చిన వారితో ఇలాంటి మంచి memories వున్నాయా..

           1988 summer holidays .. A trip to Madras. After all site seeing to Kanchi, VGP and beach, we kids were reluctant to return without visiting the megastar, including one of my little cousin who can't even spell the word Chiranjeevi properly. The elders held the head as it is less likely that such a big star would meet common people like us. That’s probably next to impossible. We bought a movie stars address book in Pondy bazar main road, found the phone number and called from the hotel to find out if he is in Madras or not. Someone replied that he is available in Madras. Finally with all courage gathered, a 14 members family started off to goto his house to meet the ACTOR. We left at 3:30 in the afternoon and asked the watchman when he would arrive. Again after sometime, we enquired him when would he arrive. Watchman replied with all politeness that he is out for a shooting and would be back in sometime.

         In the meantime the gardener watered the plants on the portico. A lady went out and another car went out. For a while we thought, if not the actor himself, we atleast we got see the his watchman, gardener and his car. We spent up to 9 PM watching all these having tea, coffee breaks.

        Meanwhile came a car. We rushed towards the gate. Mr. Chiranjeevi got out of the car along with a Bollywood villain Mr. Ranjit. Just as we were about to make our way from a distance, we thought he would wave at us with a smile and get into his house. But to our surprise he signed us to come in. Suspicious, whether he actually called us or not, we went upto his lawn. He came to us. He must have been tired. Anyone would like to sit legs stretched after a long day. But even at that time, he greeted every family member of mine and spent 15 mins with us. He called up his kids out and introduced them to us.

       My grandfather said, that he helped the family saving one day’s hotel bill. The actor was surprised and asked him, “How and what did I do?”

“We are supposed to return to our home tomorrow and no child is willing to return without visiting Chiranjeevi. If you don't show up today, we'll have to come back tomorrow. So you saved a day's hotel bill for us.”
