English translation: 🏠
How is it living without having door bell ring for months together? Most part of the year when there is no guest at all nor I can visit anyone. It was living like a shoplifter in our own house. I saw a movie ‘Kaun’ when I was in teens (do not try estimate my age based on this, that’s not the point 😊), in which heroine gets scared whenever her doorbell rings assuming there is a killer waiting for her outside. That was the exact feeling, if by any chance, have a thought to let anyone inside our home. Everyone were trying prove each other that all of them are capable of extending hands to do all chores. But, I still see emptied coffee mug on the teapoy. After all, teapoy can hold coffee too, that can trigger my blood pressure to rise. Not even society caretaker turned up to give away the electricity bill because there is no bill generated for a month.
I heard many callers telling a radio jockey that the difficult part in the past few months was to bear with the spouse for long hours. With all these years that either of them or both of them working, they only need to endure with each other only for a limited time in the day and just few days in a week. There was a brighter day ahead to forget about the morning’s heated argument in the past. But now, experts say that they need dwell with it.
It was no less than a circus to
manage house without a maid. I've got to understand that maid plays a very
important role in a woman's life after mom. It's no less than a nightmare who depend on maid from dough making to dusting switch boards. A house can run seamlessly with spouse
touring for 10 days in a month, but not without a maid.
How would be life without
bigbasket, myntra and amazon?
Someone who rings my doorbell
after maid is, bigbasket and for most of us amazon, myntra, swiggy or zomato
delivery agents. For more than a while there were no home deliveries and all my
items were just lying in the cart. The heavy task was to carry heavy bags of
all provisions from local market, most of them which I never bought, like
vanilla essence, olives, oregano etc. My groceries bill for April was 20K. Because,
for a while entire family suddenly turned chefs and we tried out a lot of
delicacies that we never thought we'd make at home, like pizza that we hardly
have twice or thrice in a year.
As there was no option to buy
snacks, my weekends were totally occupied in making snacks that I can store for
a week. Making laddu right had become my
ambition at one point of time in the past few years. I got it right this year.
- Kova, pizza, cake, carrot halwa,
rosogolla, vanilla ice cream, chocolate cake, laddu, murukus and halwa puri. I
didn't get a chance to take pictures of rice, dal, subzi, chapati, tea, coffee.
How is it living without TV serials? Tsunamis, wars - NONE of these could ever stop daily soaps from being telecasted. I've never thought there will be a part of my life where I cannot get to watch my TV serial after work. Some roles and characters became part of our lives. There were days when I cursed that devilish aunty of the serial who leaves no stone unturned to trouble hero/heroine. There were days when I literally prayed God that my heroine should be proven innocent. (With the strong faith that none of my managers would never read this,) Had I worshipped this seriously for my promotion, may be I would have got promoted last year itself.
Two and a half months with school
too being closed and kids too not allowed to play outside, we have subscribed
to every possible OTT - Amazon prime, Disney Hotstar, Sunnxt, Zee5, Aha,
Sonyliv and intermittently Netflix.
We tried watching every new hit movie,
to enjoy the hit and also the flop, to analyze why is it a flop. By May, we've
realized that there is nothing interesting left to watch in all known languages,
so switched to Tamil movies. By June we've exhausted other language films too
and finally started revision of 80s and 90s movies of Chiranjeevi and Sridevi,
till the time satellite channels, bigbasket, amazon and myntra are back.
All of my formals are lying folded
and pressed in the shelf from months. Initial two months I've spent with only
two pairs of dresses, one of them which I've worn and the other one will be on
clothes drying stand after washing. Next day, I'd just pick it up from the
clothes drying stand. So, every alternate day, I am seen in the same dress. My
sister advised instead of repeating the same two pairs for months, change these
two pairs everyweek. I liked the idea.
